Recently I have been reading a lot of controversial opinions on the glamour modelling industry that seems to have stemmed from the article posted on the Guardian the other day. I don´t usually post a lot on here in the form of writing but I´d like to give my opinion on the matter also. I´m no writer, so bear with me.
I read in one or two blogs responding to the article something that I feel has an element of truth in it. The writer stated that most glamour models get into the industry as they feel they have something to prove to someone or others. I can agree on one hand that yes, it is nice to show a bully or ex-partner or anyone that pisses you off that you´re doing well for yourself, but for me, this career choice was something I wanted to undertake for 100% myself.
I wouldn´t say I´m the most body confident person, we all have our little hang-ups. But in the past year I´ve learned to accept my body shape and appearance and embrace it. Don´t get me wrong I´m a typical girl and now and again I´ll have a meltdown and hate everything about myself, but on the whole of things, I´m comfortable in my own skin, and you have to be if you want to become a glamour model. There´s always the same issue with glamour modelling: degrading of women and setting unrealistic goals of what ´beautiful´ women should look like. I think this rings true in fashion modelling still, but for glamour modelling? I don´t think as much anymore.
Glamour modelling isn´t about fake boobs, being stick thin with orange skin and fake hair anymore. The Jordan/Jodie Marsh phase is long gone. Lads mags now are all about real women with natural boobs, skin, hair and curves. You just have to take one look at Lucy Vixen to see that she is absolutely beautiful and curvy, and doing crazy well for herself.
I don´t believe I will have any regrets from choosing to go topless modelling. It won´t and hasn´t affected my career as a make-up artist, although obviously it would be a different case if I wanted to be a policewoman or something. For me this is something I enjoy doing because of the people I get to meet, the places I get to go and I would be lying if I didn´t say the confidence boost.
I think after this rambling I´m pretty much gonna conclude it with: THEY´RE JUST NIPPLES! GET OVER IT.
